Environmental Epidemiologist

Tamal Chakraverty MD, MPH, CPH has been an Epidemiologist with the Shelby County Health Department since September 2011. He graduated from UMKC School of Medicine (6-year BA/MD) in 2000 and completed a residency before transitioning into public health. In 2010, he completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of South Florida. Prior to his position at Shelby County Health Department, he interned in the Epidemiology Department of Hillsborough County Health Department in Tampa, Florida.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, movies, international travel and music (1980s, classic rock/R&B/disco).
